Accessible by nature: redefining inclusive tourism in Trentino

Visit Trentino, Italy

“When I’m out in nature, it makes me feel free, it makes me feel calm. I can explore a different environment to what I’m used to, and it opens my mind a lot.”

— Luca Rama, tourist with cerebral palsy.

Adventure for all: how Trentino is making the mountains inclusive

In the heart of the Italian Alps, a quiet tourism revolution is taking place. Trentino is proving that the joy of travel, adventure, and the natural world should be accessible to everyone.

In this film we meet Luca who lives with cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. He returns to Trentino year after year to reconnect with nature, family, and freedom. Passionate guides at Scie di Passione, a local organization dedicated to making mountain sports accessible, use cutting edge equipment to take Luca on a trek to the top of Monte Maggio for the very first time.

With support from Italy’s Ministry of Disabilities, Trentino has invested in equipment, training and infrastructure to create high-quality experiences for visitors with disabilities. The region is setting a national — and international — example for inclusive travel.

This is tourism that doesn’t leave anyone behind.
