Rural Flood Resilience in Pangasinan: A Community Affair

Community-led Climate Resilience

Across the world, climate hazards are becoming more frequent, more intense and more deadly, especially for those whose social or economic circumstances put them at greater levels of risk. Members of the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance work closely with communities to ensure that those most affected by the climate crisis are actively involved in implementing solutions.
In rural areas of the Philippines, community volunteers working with the Philippine Red Cross use a mobile health clinic to bring vital healthcare services and medical supplies to remote, flood-prone communities. Meanwhile in Peru,  Practical Action supports communities in developing and maintaining inclusive Early Warning Systems that address the specific needs of communities at risk of flooding.
This approach demonstrates that when communities lead, lasting and effective change follows.
