Flood resilience in smaller communities is often overlooked.
The Devon Resilience Innovation Project (DRIP) from the Devon County Council, is pioneering new ways to build flood resilience in Devon through innovative, low-cost interventions. By employing smart technologies, nature-based solutions, and fostering community engagement, DRIP empowers local communities to better prepare for and recover from flooding.
Collaboration with a diverse range of partners is key to their success. DRIP aims to change governmental processes and legislation to ensure inclusive and effective solutions for flood-prone areas.
DRIP is working with 19 organisations until 2027 to implement multiple innovative interventions, aiming to improve flood resilience in 26 communities across Devon.
*Disclaimer: This project is funded by DEFRA as part of the £200 million Flood and Coastal Innovation Programme which is managed by the Environment Agency. The Programme will drive innovation in flood and coastal resilience and adaptation to a changing climate.
