The energy transition is one of the defining challenges of our time, and while progress has been made in decarbonising power, tackling heat remains a significant hurdle. AMP Clean Energy is leading the way with innovative solutions, funding and developing low-carbon energy centres that deliver impactful results. Partnering with Simpsons Malt, AMP is creating a system that combines locally sourced renewable biomass and electric boilers, saving an impressive 25,000 tonnes of carbon each year.
This project exemplifies how the UK can better utilise excess renewable energy, particularly in Scotland, where wind farms are often curtailed due to grid constraints. By turning surplus electricity into low-carbon heat, this initiative not only reduces waste but also sets a precedent for smarter, sustainable energy use. It’s a powerful step forward in the journey to decarbonisation, with tangible benefits for the environment and a blueprint for the future.
