Marine Mammal Mitigation and Monitoring Conference
Elevating Industry Standards
As offshore and coastal industries continue to expand, so too must our commitment to sustainable practices. The Marine Mammal Monitoring and Mitigation Conference recently held in Edinburgh marked a pivotal moment in marine conservation. Hosted by the Marine Mammal Observer Association and IMarEST, this first-of-its-kind event brought together over 110 specialists from 13 countries to tackle the pressing need for sustainable marine practices.
With professionals from the licensing, consulting, and technology sectors, the conference provided a platform for sharing innovative tools and strategies focused on marine mammal monitoring and mitigation. Attendees explored the latest advances in technology and discussed best practices to protect marine life as coastal and offshore industries grow, aiming to balance economic progress with environmental stewardship.
Through its Marine Mammal Special Interest Group, IMarEST is creating a collaborative space where experts can network, share insights, and drive forward the best practices and tools for a sustainable blue economy. This event embodies the shared commitment to safeguard marine ecosystems while fostering responsible development in our vital coastal and maritime sectors.
