Advancing therapeutic lifestyle change through community-based care

“We have to attack the base and root cause of disease, and most of the diseases that kill us today are lifestyle-based.”

— Eric Ruth, CEO and co-founder, Kellyn

How community-led interventions support sustainable lifestyle change

In this short-form documentary, Kellyn showcases how therapeutic lifestyle change interventions can address the root causes of chronic disease by meeting people where they are. The film follows community-based programs designed to improve access to nutritious food while supporting long-term behavior change through education, relationship-building, and dignity-centered care.

At the heart is Kellyn’s mobile market model, which functions as a rolling produce department, bringing affordable, high-quality fruits, vegetables, grocery staples and nutritious prepared meals directly into communities with limited access to healthy food. The program prioritizes respect and empowerment, allowing participants to purchase food at reduced cost while maintaining choice and agency.

The film also highlights how food access is paired with therapeutic lifestyle change intervention programs that support measurable health improvements. Through sustained engagement, participants have experienced improvements in blood sugar, blood pressure, and overall well-being, demonstrating how community-driven lifestyle medicine approaches can support treatment and, when applied intensively, often contribute to remission of chronic disease.
